In this article, we would like to walk you through the changes we are introducing in Booster Set Vol. 4: Become the Hero regarding how certain things are written in card text.
1. References to Specific Attributes
When referencing a specific attribute in card text, the attribute in question will be written in between {} from now on. For example, if a card text says “{Space Peeps or Future Folk}”, then it means “has the {Space Peeps} or {Future Folk} attribute”, which includes cards with only 1 of the listed attributes, as well as cards with both. Cards with 1 or both of these attributes will satisfy this condition regardless of whatever other attributes they may have.
The one exception to this new format for attributes is when specifying cards with a certain attribute for 【DR】(Damage Reversal). In the case of 【DR】, attributes will continue to be written without using {}, usually in the following formats: “[【DR 2】: (attribute)]” or [【DR 1】: (attribute 1) or (attribute 2)].
2. References to Card Names
When referencing the name of 1 specific card in card text, the card name will be written in between «» from now on. If referencing part or whole of a card name that could be shared by multiple cards, they will continue to be written in between "" as before.
For example, if a card text refers to “"Joe of the Kamaitachi"”, then that refers to any card which includes the phrase “Joe of the Kamaitachi” in its card name. Hence, both

3. Listing Materials for 【Genesis Summoning】
【Genesis Summoning】: Materials - This and 1 or more {Beast or Reginleif} units.
You may special summon 1 {Beast or Reginleif} unit from your deck with a level equal to or less than the combined level of the materials.
We will be changing part of the text template for 【Genesis Summoning】. Previously, the list of materials required for the 【Genesis Summoning】 were generally written as “Put this and 1 or more allied (attribute 1) or (attribute 2) units on the bottom of their owner’s decks as materials.” Going forward, they will be written just as “Materials - This and 1 or more {(attribute 1) or (attribute 2)} units.”
This new templating does not change any of the existing rules for 【Genesis Summoning】. Unless specifically instructed otherwise, 【Genesis Summoning】 still counts as a standard action, you can only choose your own units in play as materials, and the materials are sent to the bottom of their owner’s decks.
